Richard Found Help and Hope at Scott Mission

Scott Mission has been helping people bridge the gap between hunger and homelessness for more than eight decades. For many of our neighbours here in the GTA, homelessness means that a family will transition between the homes of friends and family for short periods of time. For others, a car is the main source of refuge when a home or apartment is lost. But Richard had nowhere to turn for a warm meal.

Richard knows help and hope—and a warm meal—can always be found from caring, compassionate neighbours at Scott Mission.

He had found help at the Mission previously . . . more than 57 years ago!

So when he recently found himself between jobs, and with nothing to eat, he turned once more to the compassionate neighbours at 502 Spadina Avenue.

This Easter, Scott Mission will welcome thousands of hungry and homeless people like Richard. Thank you for sharing Easter meals and Easter hope!

A lot has changed since Richard's first visit so long ago. No longer only a soup kitchen, the Mission is truly helping people rebuild what is broken in their lives.

Counselling and medical care are available. We offer childcare, a food bank, and there’s the newly launched operations Hub, which is taking help directly into low-income neighbourhoods.

The one thing that hasn’t changed is the Christ-centred care Richard knew he would find. Along with a warm meal, staff and volunteers offered prayer and encouragement to him and others experiencing hunger, homelessness, unemployment, and more.

Please make a gift today to share meals, help, and hope with vulnerable neighbours like Richard! Every $4.25 you give provides a meal and so much more. Thank you for partnering with us now to make this a truly unforgettable Easter for people who are in great need of God’s mercy and love.
