“It’s a Home Away from Home
Here . . .”

—Thankful parents, Austin and Alexis

Austin and Alexis are proud parents of five little ones ranging in age from ten to just one year old. The high cost of living has presented them with many challenges, making it difficult at times to afford the food their family needs.

“If you go buy bacon, milk, eggs, bread, and sliced cheese, that’s like $25, and we’re a family of seven. So that means our kids eat . . . but we don’t always [eat] because we don’t want to take food from our kids.”

When Austin and Alexis learned about Scott Mission’s food bank and the meals available each day, it felt like an answered prayer. “Coming here makes sure everybody goes to bed with full tummies and has a full belly before school. They help us with milk and formula for the baby which is very expensive.

“We called Scott Mission and said ‘We have no formula,’ and they said, “We’ve got some. Come get it.’ It’s like a home away from home here.”

These parents are grateful their neighbours care and give to support Scott Mission so their children can grow strong and succeed in school.

“Thank you to Scott Mission’s donors and to everyone at the Mission,” Alexis says. “They’re always good to us.”
