Kaitlyn Knows—Scott Mission Camp is a Life-Changing Experience for Youth

Kaitlyn was just six when she finally got the chance to experience Scott Mission Camp. For years she had listened to her older sisters and brother rave about all the fun they had, the challenging activities, and all the wonderful friends they made at camp.

"I was really excited to make new friends and also a bit nervous,” she says. But her butterflies faded fast as she took in the rustic wooden cabins, lush forest, and endless activities.

“The activities are really fun and there’s always something for everybody to do. Everybody can enjoy something here,” Kaitlyn says. “From swimming to rock climbing and even archery!”

Making friends was Kaitlyn’s prayer from the beginning and remains important to her today, especially after COVID isolated our young people for way too long.

“Meeting new people and new counsellors every year is really great,” she says. “I’m still friends with some of the kids I met at camp when I was six.”

When you ask Kaitlyn what she likes most about Scott Mission Camp, it’s worship time. “Worship time brings me a lot closer to people. Even if we’ve never talked, singing about God brings us closer.”

Whether it’s around a campfire or in a common area, worship time is the experience that has most enriched Kaitlyn’s life. It has her thinking of joining Scott Mission’s Foundations leadership program, and possibly working as a camp counsellor one day.

Like all Scott Mission campers, Kaitlyn is thankful for friends who choose to give to Scott Mission to enrich the lives of young people who might otherwise never experience the beauty of the forest or learn of God’s love for them.

“I’m really glad for donor support for Scott Mission because the community here is really great and helps you connect with God,” Kaitlyn says. “I definitely feel more connected.”

Thank you for supporting Scott Mission Camp! Your support enriches lives like Kaitlyn’s as they experience summer camp and the beauty of nature while growing closer to God. Please give generously today to send more young people to Scott Mission Camp!

Kaitlyn has been looking forward to Scott Mission Camp all year!
